The 11th Precinct in Detroit was surprised on Saturday by a little girl who wanted to something special for police officers after seeing the Dallas shooting on television.
After talking with her mother about the day’s news, nine-year-old Samya McLaughlin decided how she would like to spend her birthday money.
She purchased everything needed to make bagged lunches, which included sandwiches, chips, fruit and a cookie, and brought them as a gift for police officers.
Samya, who believes that “all lives matter”, also passed out nearly 30 bagged lunches to the homeless in Detroit’s Cass Corridor.
